NED Engineering University recently marked its centennial anniversary, prompting a former student to pen a personal tribute to colleagues. The resulting book, along with additional donations, established the Maaji scholarship named after all mothers, approved by the University Syndicate and later transformed into an Endowment Fund. With a Rs 50 crore target over the next three years, the fund currently supports 200 students, aiming to enroll 100 more annually. Approximately 10 crores have been collected, invested in Shariah banking, with profits funding students' education. This unique fund ensures donations remain untouched, deposited in a tax-exempt account in Pakistan and enjoys tax rebates in the US through NEDNA. Led by the Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, and alumni contribute to its management. The scholarship's inspiration stems from the selfless sacrifices of impoverished mothers, emphasizing the lasting impact of supporting education. The initiative encourages honoring maternal figures by contributing to the education of deserving Pakistani children, providing them a chance to thrive.
